March Madness bracket with AI
Updated October 2026
Build your March Madness bracket with AI. Your AI, your picks.
You can use your own AI, whether that is ChatGPT, Claude or Muse (by Meta), as a research partner for your March Madness bracket. Ask it to explain each matchup, to show which lower-seeded teams have a real chance, and to build a bracket that fits how much risk you want. It helps you think. You make the picks.
Can ChatGPT, Claude or Muse help with a March Madness bracket?
Yes, as a research partner. ChatGPT, Claude and Muse (by Meta) can all talk through a matchup, argue both sides and write your bracket out as a list. They can also be wrong or out of date, and none of them can see the future. Use them to think, not to decide.
Good jobs for your AI
- Explain a matchup in plain words
- Make the best case for each team
- Build a bracket that fits how much risk you want
- Check your finished bracket for mistakes
How do you build a March Madness bracket with AI?
Five steps. Each one has a prompt you can copy into ChatGPT, Claude or Muse (by Meta).
Step 1
Tell it your style
Say how much risk you want: safe, a few upsets, or chaos. Swap those words into the prompt below. Then ask what that style means in practice, so you and your AI mean the same thing.
Copy this prompt I'm filling out a March Madness bracket and I want a few upsets, not chaos. Explain what that means in practice: how many lower-seeded teams should I advance in the first round, and how deep should they go?
Step 2
Go region by region
Take one region at a time. For each matchup, ask your AI for the case for each team and which games have a real chance of an upset. Ask for short answers so you can read all of them.
Copy this prompt I'll paste one region at a time. For each first-round matchup, give me the best case for each team in two sentences, then tell me which games have a real chance of an upset and why.
Step 3
Pick your champion first, then work backward
Choose the team you believe in most, or ask your AI to make the case for a few. Then ask what has to go right for that team to win it all and who it has to beat on the way. Fill in the rest of the bracket around that path.
Copy this prompt Make the case for my champion pick. Then work backward: for each round, who does that team have to beat, and what has to go right for it to get there?
Step 4
Check your bracket for impossible paths
A team can't win a game it never reached. When your bracket is done, ask your AI to read the whole thing and flag any team that advances without winning its earlier games.
Copy this prompt Here is my full bracket. Check it for impossible paths: a team can only win a game if it won every game before it. List any mistakes and fix them.
Step 5
Save it where you're playing
Ask your AI to write your final bracket as a list, round by round. Then copy it into wherever your group is playing. The Bracket game on Windom Sports is coming for March 2027, so for now that means your group's own pool or your notes.
Copy this prompt Write my final bracket as a simple list, round by round, ending with the champion, so I can copy it.
How do you get good answers from AI on a bracket?
- Ask it to show its reasons. A pick with no reason is just a guess. If you can't follow the reasoning, ask again.
- Check the facts yourself close to the tournament. Injuries, who is playing and who just got hot change fast, and your AI may not have the latest. Ask how recent its information is, then look up the big ones yourself.
- Don't let your AI call every upset. A bracket full of upsets is fun to read and hard to believe. Keep the few you really believe in.
- Ask for the other side. Have it argue against your champion. If your pick holds up, you will feel better about it.
- Keep the final call. Your AI suggests. You decide, and you can overrule it any time.
Argue against my champion pick. What is the strongest reason this team does not win it all, and which facts should I double-check myself?
Can you play March Madness with your AI on Windom Sports?
ChatGPT and Claude work with Windom Sports today. Muse (by Meta) is coming soon. Here is what that means for March Madness.

Claude
Connect it once, then ask about your leagues and make picks in select leagues. Works on free Claude.

Do the one-time setup on a computer. It takes about a minute.
What works today
- Connect ChatGPT or Claude once, then ask about your leagues: standings, how your teams scored, how scoring works, and which leagues you can join.
- In select leagues, make and swap picks by asking, with the same rules and deadlines as the site.
- In a league where you draft teams, the draft itself happens on Windom Sports.
What is coming
- Make your whole bracket from chat. Coming for March Madness 2027. It is not built yet.
- The Bracket game. Call the whole bracket up front and earn points for every pick that survives. Coming for March 2027. It is not playable yet.
What if one early upset ruins your bracket?
That is the risk of a bracket: every pick is made before tip-off, so one surprise in the first round can take out a chunk of your picks. A fantasy league with drafted teams works the other way. Your teams keep scoring for as long as they are still alive, and tournament wins climb by round.
Tournament leagues for 2027 open closer to March. If your group wants to play sooner, a college basketball season league runs November into March. Either way, ask your AI the same questions you would ask for a bracket, then make your own picks.

March Madness bracket with AI: your questions, answered
Can ChatGPT fill out my March Madness bracket?
It can help you build one. Tell ChatGPT your style, go through the bracket region by region, and ask for the case for each team. It can write your finished bracket out as a list, and you decide what stays. Windom Sports does not have a Bracket game to play yet, so there is nothing to enter there today. Making a bracket from chat is coming for March Madness 2027.
Can Claude help with my bracket?
Yes, the same way. Describe your style, work through each region, and ask Claude to explain each matchup and show its reasons. Claude also works with Windom Sports today, including on free Claude, so you can ask it about your leagues. Your bracket is still your call.
What is Muse?
Muse (by Meta) is an AI assistant from Meta. You can use it for bracket research the way you would use ChatGPT or Claude. It does not work with Windom Sports yet. That is coming soon, and the Muse page lets you ask for one email when it is ready.
Is using AI for a bracket allowed?
It is your bracket, so use whatever help you like. In a Windom Sports league your picks are yours, however you make them. Other pools set their own rules, so check yours before you lean on AI.
Can I make my picks from chat on Windom Sports?

Is it free?
Windom Sports is free to play and free to host. It is a game for bragging rights. Your AI is separate: Claude works on free Claude, and adding Windom Sports in ChatGPT needs a paid ChatGPT plan for now. For bracket research, use whichever AI you already have.
