What is fantasy football? A simple guide.

Fantasy football is a game where you pick real football teams or players, then score points based on how they do in real games. You play against friends in a league, and the standings change as the season goes on. On Windom Sports, you draft whole teams, so you score when they win.

How does traditional fantasy football work?

In most fantasy football leagues, a group of friends each build a roster of individual NFL players. Every week you choose which of them start, and they earn points for what they do on the field: yards, touchdowns, catches and so on. Your total is compared with your opponent’s, and over the season the standings show who’s on top. Many leagues also let you pick up free players and trade with each other. Some people love that weekly routine. Others would rather just watch the games.

Fantasy football for beginners: draft whole teams

Here’s the simplest way to play. Instead of picking players, you draft whole teams, and you score when they win. There’s no lineup to set each week, no waiver wire and no trades. If you can pick a team to root for, you already know how to play.
