March Madness fantasy
Updated October 2026
March Madness fantasy league. Draft teams that keep scoring.
A March Madness fantasy league is a game where you and your friends draft real college basketball teams and score when they win. Your teams keep earning points for as long as they are still alive, so a bad first weekend does not end your fun. Tournament leagues for 2027 open closer to March. Until then, a college basketball season league runs November into March.
What is a March Madness fantasy league?
You and your friends take turns drafting real tournament teams, men’s or women’s programs, and each team goes to just one person. When your teams win, you score, and tournament wins climb by round.
There are no lineups to set and no waiver wire to work. If you can pick a team to root for, you can play.
What did Windom Sports do for March Madness in 2026?
In 2026 we ran March Madness leagues where friends drafted whole tournament teams and followed them round by round. Teams kept scoring as long as they were alive, so the tournament stayed fun past the first weekend.
The idea goes back further, to a March Madness game. At the 2022 Elite Eight, our founder watched the fan in front of him spend the whole night rooting for one player’s point total instead of the win. Windom Sports is built so you root for the scoreboard.
March Madness bracket pool or fantasy league: what is the difference?
Both are a great way to follow the tournament with your group. They just work differently.
A bracket pool
- You call the whole bracket before the first game.
- One early upset can wreck it on day one.
- Quick to fill out, and everyone in the group chat has an opinion.
A fantasy league with drafted teams
- You draft teams with your friends.
- Your teams keep scoring for as long as they are still alive.
- Wins earn points, and tournament wins climb by round.
Neither is better, and plenty of people play both. A bracket is fun because everyone has an opinion. Drafting is fun because your teams are yours, and they keep playing.
